I would say celebrating the small wins! We always want to do everything perfectly and compare ourselves to others, which then turns into feeling low or like a failure when your day as a mum is testing you, stressing you out or feels like everything is going wrong. give yourself a pat on the back for getting out of the house in the fresh air! For getting a 10 minute nap while baby is sleeping- celebrate the small things and you start to feel 100 x better! Also on a side note- stop looking at the clock during the night! It makes things seem way better!
The best advice I was ever given was to use controlled crying. There are 10 years between my two children and I used this technique with both. The first time my son was 8 months old and was still waking up in the night for a bottle. I was already back in full-time work and was exhausted. I took a weeks holiday from work and used that time to use the technique to stop that feed. It took four nights but eventually worked. I also used it when my daughter was four years old. She wouldn't go to sleep at night unless I stayed in bed with her. I spoke with my health visitor who was so supportive and suggested controlled crying. Within a few nights it was sorted! I had to keep my husband downstairs though as he couldn't cope with her being upset. It definitely works in the right situation 👌
Becoming a mum is the greatest gift you can ever have, but be easy on yourself. Don't expect everything to be perfect, lower your expectations of what you think you should be doing (comparing yourself to others), don't put pressure on yourself. Every baby is different, there is no right or wrong way, everybody's situation is different, but take what help is available and be easy on yourself ❤️
As a twin mum, I can honestly say their first year was a daze… which I can sum up in three ‘C’s - caffeine, concealer and crying… wondering if I would ever know the joy of 3 whole hours sleep ever again whilst listening to my friends enjoy baby yoga, baby swimming, baby etc etc - oh and they all had time to bake their own bread and make organic baby food… Have faith, don’t try to be perfect and enjoy every baby kiss and smile - it will get easier 💕
Well done Ashley this site will be a real help to all new mums and mums to be.
You are doing it. Whenever you think you can’t do it just stop and remind yourself that YOU ARE DOING IT!
I’m a mother of two and a breastfeeding peer supporter. The biggest bit of advice I think is most important is to do your research on places like this and see what support is out there before baby comes. Informed Is best ❤️
